ARDROSSAN ACCIES RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB
Providing Sporting Facilities To The Local Community Since 1922
At the heart of the local community since 1922, Ardrossan Academicals Rugby Football Club provides sporting facilities not only for Rugby Union but also for hockey and cricket. Over the years the club has grown from strength to strength and enjoyed success at many levels in both senior and junior rugby.
The senior team are now established in the elite Premier Leagues of Scottish Rugby and are strong contenders for starting the new season in Premier 3. In addition to our senior teams we have a very vibrant and successful youth section ranging from primary school kids (both boys and girls) being taught rugby through to secondary teams up to under 18 years playing in organised leagues all over Scotland.
Youth rugby is particularly important at the club and we recognise that a child’s natural sense of fun and spontaneity can blossom in a positive environment created by sports organisations.
Service Description
Rugby is a sport about intensity, determination, and drive. Every player is tired and hurting five minutes into the game, but the key is who can get up off the ground and take it to his opponent time and time again. Read on and discover why rugby could be for you!
Reason #1
You can and will be in incredible physical shape. Once people stop playing competitive sports in school they lose the urge to work out and therefore start to gain weight. To really enjoy rugby, your helped and encouraged to be as strong as you possibly can be. The fact that the game itself is so much fun (along with so many other things), you will have no problem doing what it takes to be able to physically play for years to come.
Reason #2
Anyone can play. It does not matter if you’re old or young, fat or skinny, muscle-bound or a stick figure. There are several competitive levels ranging from various youth leagues to senior level. Depending on how serious you want to take it and where your physical limitations lie, there is a league for you. More importantly the bond that forms between teammates cannot be compared to anything else that the game has to offer.
Reason #3
No one on earth parties like a rugby team. After a match the home team hosts a social (party). Both teams attend to eat and drink to their heart’s content, all while socialising with the opponent as much as their teammates.
Reason #4
There is a mystique that comes with playing rugby in this country. People hear that you play(ed) football, tennis, or basketball and they give you a polite “that’s nice.” However, mention that you play rugby and people will pause, take another look at you, and say “ooh, I hear that’s tough.” Immediately they look at you in a different light. They know enough about the game to understand that it takes a certain resolve to play.
Reason #5
Rugby is a sport that requires players to study the game, with many rules and complex tactics it will challenge you not just physically, but mentally.
So basically if you want a great reason to get in shape or stay in shape, want to party so hard that rock stars will be jealous, and have people admire and question your choice of sport, then rugby could be for you.
Costs
Becoming a Member of the club is necessary for all Senior Players and Coaches. Optionally as a supporter, your support by becoming a Member is highly appreciated.
