Service Description

Age Concern is a community based centre that offers companionship, stimulation through music,exercise, art and lunch clubs on a drop in basis. We provide a two course homemade lunch from Monday- Friday at the Centre. We also provide breakfast and afternoon tea for those who wish to join us. In addition to our very popular Lunch Clubs we also offer Bingo each Monday and Friday evening 7.30pm-9pm,Singing (Tuesday afternoon), Low level exercise (Wednesday pm), Games afternoons e.g giant dominoes, beetle drive(Thursday pm). Our members also access a water aerobics class at the Portal.

We are constantly striving to create new activities for our members ensuring that we have a varied and stimulating variety of activities. We aim to promote independence and confidence with a barrel load of fun and good humor.

The group have access to a mini bus but numbers are limited dependent on locality. If someone requires transport they should speak with a member of the team.

Our members enjoy various trips throughout the year e.g theatre, museums and garden centres. We also invite speakers to the centre to advise on things such as safety in the home, health matters and managing your income.

Any new members  who want to either join in with the various sessions or those who wish to volunteer will be made very welcome.

Costs

£4 for a Two course meal. Speak to team members re: transport costs.

Resources and Amenities

We have a room available for rent at £6 per hour which is suitable for wheelchair users.
