Overview
Barnardo’s transforms the lives of the most vulnerable children and young people in Scotland and across the UK through the work of our projects, campaigning and research expertise. We believe we can bring out the best in every child whether the issue is child povery, sexual exploitation, disability or domestic violence. Barnardo’s North Ayrshire Families Service gets along side families who are struggling with the range of issues which can lead to homelessness or who are experiencing homelessness. We support families to address the issues affecting them and help to reduce the impact on their children and young people. Barnardo’s Young Family Support Service supports parents of young children to disscover a range of activities they can enjoy together and share with other similar families.

We Support Children, Young People and their Families:
Who have permanent accommodation and need support
Who have a new tenancy and need help to settle into a new community, school or social network
Who are in a private let or part of NAC Rent Deposit Scheme – and need support
Who are in temporaty accommodation and need support
Young parents of young children
Service Description
Barnardo’s North Ayrshire Families Service has been supporting families in North Ayrshire for more than 13 years. We use a Relationship Approach, listening to the issues affecting you and your family and support you to break down the issues into a manageable order and manageable tasks. Our team of dedicated staff are also skilled in networking and support families to engage appropriately with other services, if required. We support you with the challenges facing you, your children and young people, including: – Parenting – Child Care – Accessing Health Care – Debt Advice – Benefits – Budgeting – Door keeping – Housework – Routines – Cooking – Education, Employment, Training – Domestic violence – Anti-social behaviour – Drugs/ alcohol issues – Engaging with other services: Education; Housing; Health; Social Work; Addiction Services
Costs
Barnardo’s is a national children’s charity. No child or young person should be disadvantaged. There is no charge for our service and no cost the families we support. Our funding comes from a range of sources including commissioned services, monies raised through Barnardo’s shops and from voluntary donations.
Duration
Support is individualised. Families and individuals are supported to develop support plans with clearly agreed outcomes
