Overview
24-hour Care Home offering permanent placements.
Our Staff Team is commencing with a new project known as C.A.P.A (Care About Physical Activity) which has been introduced by the Care Inspectorate.
This innovative programme is being enjoyed by our Residents, who themselves are very aware of the benefits to themselves of greater movement.
These benefits include: maximising independence, a better quality of life, reducing the risk of falls, strengthening of muscle tone, reducing joint pains, improving stamina and an overall benefit to those with dementia.
Service Description
South Beach House is a 42-bed Care Home which provides caring 24 hour services for men and women in very comfortable surroundings.
In 2017 we carried out extensive ground work to the rear of the House. This has resulted in a beautiful sensory garden, complete with a new summer house, which can be enjoyed by all our residents in the warmer weather.
Prior to this, the House had a major refurbishment programme to the main Kitchen and Conservatory areas, bringing these facilities up to the highest standards.
Our residents enjoy glorious views of Arran and the Heads of Ayr, as South Beach House is located on the seafront at Ardrossan.
On 26th February 2019 we were assessed for the very prestigious Customer Service Excellence Award. We passed this Assessment – for our 11th consecutive year! This award, introduced by the then Prime Minister, John Major, aims to promote excellence in Customer Service. This independent validation of achievement is a recognised measurable standard of our very high quality of service delivery to residents and to their families.
Costs
We accept the National Care Home contract rates, via Local Authorities, as our standard weekly rates. Our private-funding cost per week from 1st January 2019 is £879.00, prior to the deduction of Free Personal Care.
Duration
We provide 24-hour care for those needing permanent support. Regular reviews ensure that person-centred care is always available.
Resources and Amenities
We are very well placed for ferries over to Arran, local buses to Glasgow and to Kilmarnock, as well as the local railway station, which is just 5 minutes away on foot. We are within walking distance of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, a cinema, a Bowling Alley, a Museum, a Library and several Churches, to name but a few of our local amenities. We have our own mini-bus which is used for outings to local places of interest.
We enjoy a very full programme of Activities throughout each day. These can range from quizzes (very popular!), looking into the life stories of past heroes, experiencing the tastes of different countries, themed days, crafts, such as art and knitting, enjoying the facility of our Garden when the weather is glorious, to name but a few.
As we have fairly recently added the amenity of Wi-Fi within our House, our residents can enjoy staying in touch with their relatives via Skype.
At the commencement of 2019 we are looking to purchase a new Minibus, as our current vehicle has served us well over a number of years now.
Our fundraising activities have included:
Sponsored Cycle around Millport (Summer 2018)
Wall of Poppies (November 2018)
Mile of pennies (ongoing)
Due to great generosity from the Three Towns area we are gaining momentum with this project and are very grateful for all the support to date!
Accessibility
We have wheelchair access to the rear of the building. Car parking is also available at the rear of the premises.
