We have established a first class reputation specialising in the provision of care for frail, elderly people with complex medical needs including dementia. Our dedicated and highly competent team provide 24 hour nursing care and strive to ensure our residents enjoy a safe, comfortable and homely environment. Moorburn Manor Nursing Home is aware that moving into a new home is a major change in life, to enable the right choices to be made an invitation is extended to come and spend some time with us, with a family member or friend. The invitation is extended to come and join us for a meal. Marie, our nurse manager has exacting standards which set the tone for the rest to follow. She is ably supported by Helen, deputy nurse manager, Lyndsey, senior staff nurse and our other dedicated nurses Elizabeth, Stacey, Jean, Louise, Maureen, Cathy and Carol whose combined experience in Moorburn Manor comfortably exceeds 50 years. Staff retention is a priority – most of our care assistants have been with us for many years. Currently over 80% of them have a Scottish Vocational Qualification level II or III in care; far exceeding the minimum guidelines required by the National Care Standards.

Resources and Amenities

At Moorburn Manor we provide our residents with opportunities to get out and about. From a simple walk on Largs promenade, to attending church or notable events. These allow our residents to keep in touch with their local community and are always well received. If the weather is nice those less ambulant may prefer to sit in our decked patio area and garden at the rear of the property. Our events co-ordinator Fiona draws up a monthly calendar of complimentary activities. To keep our residents entertained we have several regular entertainers, weekly quizzes and the ever popular bingo. To keep our residents active we have fun exercises suited to their abilities. All residents’ birthdays and any special events in their lives are celebrated. Families and friends are always welcome and we encourage them to visit as often as they are able. Many who do so have become part of an extended family and provide the nursing home with its special atmosphere. In-house entertainers and parties are provided free of charge. We do not charge for staff to accompany our residents to events. Laundry – We provide a free in-house laundry service and basic toiletries Hairdressing & Podiatry – Charlotte provides hairdressing services every second Monday. Stephen, podiatrist visits every second month. Residents are welcome to make their own arrangements regarding these. Both services are charged at cost.
