What is the Discovery Award Challenge?
It is non-competitive, flexible and achievable. Progress is at your own pace and within your own capabilities.
How did it start?
The idea was formed in 1987 during an adventure weekend for an over 50’s group from Dundee. Seven enthusiastic men & women along with a Community Education Worker put together a programme of activity and self-development based on the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, and the Discovery Award was born.
Who is it for?
The Award is open to all, regardless of status, state of health and level of ability. Several people in their 80s and many with mobility issues have successfully undertaken the Award. So, providing you are over 50 years of age and would like to a accept an exciting and rewarding challenge, this Award is for YOU.
