Service Description

An adult amateur choir established in 1978. Our current Musical Director is the very talented conductor and organist, Tiffany Vong.  We enjoy a rich and varied repertoire of music genres including folk, classical, modern choral as well as major choral works from the Masters. New members for all sections (Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass) are very welcome. We perform two concerts a year: the winter concert, held at the end of November, generally includes a wide variety of short and relatively simple songs that fit in with a selected theme. Our main concert in May usually involves a smaller number of longer and more challenging works. No previous singing or musical training is required. Help and encouragement is freely offered including practice discs / Mp3 files and impromptu sectional rehearsals.

Costs

An annual fee of £50, is taken at the start of the September session.  A further fee of £4 per week is taken to cover venue hire, music hire or purchase, instrument and musician hire. Flexible payment available by agreement with Treasurer.

Duration

We rehearse from 7.30-9.30pm (with a short break) on Wednesday evenings from early September until early December when we give our winter concert. Rehearsals resume in early January until May. The annual May concert usually takes place on Saturday or Sunday evening in early May.

Resources and Amenities

All sheet music is provided for choir members. Practice CDs are also often available to assist with learning outside of rehearsals. Extra sectional rehearsals may take place at a member’s house.
