Overview
TCV’s guided Health Walks are short, friendly walks lasting no longer than an hour. Anyone can join in. These walks are designed to encourage active lifestyles and would benefit anyone looking to improve their health and wellbeing, but they’re specifically designed to encourage those that would benefit from more exercise to give walking a go.
Our walk takes place every Monday starting at 2pm from Castlepark Community Centre (4 Castlepark Cir, Irvine KA12 9LQ) and they are free to join.
Service Description
Healthy Walks can benefit anyone recovering from illness or injury, or lacking in confidence. Having said that, the majority of walkers stay because they enjoy the social aspects of taking part and meeting new people!
The routes are easy. Tricky terrain, steep hills and stiles are avoided where possible.
These routes take you to nearby amenities such as Ayrshire Central Hospital – woodland trail, footpaths next to river Irvine, Stonecastle community paths, and Eglinton Country Park, just to mention a few, and they are free to join.
We also offer opportunities for people to become volunteer Walk Leaders. Free training is provided.
This project is part of Smarter Choices Smarter Places fund to build confidence and knowledge in being outdoors and being active. Also, the basis of changes in behaviour to include more active travel in everyday life. Through the delivery of this Health Walks, TCV will seek to educate, build confidence and monitor use of active travel.
