Supporting self-advocacy and group-advocacy. The Ayrshire Involvement Network gives people with learning difficulties (and other support needs) in Ayrshire a chance to speak up and share ideas and experiences about being involved in things that matter to them.
Service Description
The Ayrshire Involvement Network gives people with learning difficulties (and other support needs) in Ayrshire a chance to speak up and share ideas and experiences about being involved in things that matter to them.
Meetings are held 5-6 times per year, usually in Kilmarnock, and members discuss ways of putting the Charter for Involvement into practice. The aims of the Charter are for people who receive social care support to be:
• involved in how their support is planned and delivered
• involved in all decisions about their lives
• involved in their communities
• listened to and respected
The Charter for Involvement was written by the National Involvement Network who are a group of people from across Scotland with experience of getting support.
There is a development worker who can offer training and support to individuals and groups who want to speak up and advocate for themselves.
