Overview
Vision Champion Training – Supporting people with a learning disability, stroke or dementia
The Vision Champion project/training is being developed by RNIB and is funded by the Scottish Government to highlight the need for eye health checks and how to incorporate sight loss support into current care plan systems. The Vision Champion training is part of the Hidden Sensory Loss developments within Ayrshire Local Integrated Sensory Services (ALISS).
Service Description
RNIB recognises that for many people with complex needs, sight problems can be overlooked. We help carers and professionals who support the many aspects of an individual’s life to ensure they address the impact of sight loss on their daily lives. Vision ChampionTraining develops skills to: – improve practice in detecting potential sight loss – embed vision awareness into everyday practice – identify potential visually related behaviours and interactions – implement practical strategies for daily living and independence by making simple environmental changes – identify appropriate support and sensory services – cascade learning through the service and organisation
