This project uses a semi-independent model of rehabilitation. We work in partnership with several local and national organisations to raise awareness of problem gambling. These include Gamcare, The Responsible Gambling Trust, Money Advice Scotland, PFA Scotland and several voluntary sectors organisations including the Citizens Advice Bureau.
Service is free to service users and significant others.
Clients are offered an assessment appointment where their treatment options are discussed and a care plan is agreed. Treatment options include motivational enhancement therapy, a person centred approach, solution focussed therapy or an integrative approach utilising a combination of therapies. Clients are initially offered 12 sessions, with reviews scheduled after 4 sessions. If agreed that there are other services which should be involved, such as debt advice, referrals are made with the consent of the client or information is collected and the client is signposted to the other service.
Referrals to our treatment services come from a range of different sources. The majority of referrals arrive to us from the Gamcare Helpline, however, we have seen an increase in referrals from Gamcare’s online counselling service. Additional referrals sources include primary and secondary healthcare, Citizen Advice Bureaus, Money Advice and debt advice services, social work services including criminal justice and probation. As with all our services we have an open referral policy
