Service Description

We enable people to maintain lifestyles that are as similar as possible to those they enjoyed before staying with us. We provide a safe and supportive environment which offers access to further education via either attendance at, or outreach from James Watt College. The people we support are also encouraged to take part in a wide variety of social and leisure activities including gym attendance, bowling, walking, photography, cooking, arts and crafts, cycling, fishing, swimming, cinema, theatre and alternative therapies. Themed events are organised around Easter Weekend, Sail and Oar Weekend, Country and Western Festival, September Weekend and other special occasions such as St Patrick’s Day, St Andrew’s Day and Burns Night. Options for work experience are currently offered via the care centre, Garrison Café and Age Concern Shop. A team of experienced catering staff are responsible for the preparation and serving of meals and snacks. Mealtimes are flexible and a choice of menu is available. Our in–house kitchens prepare fresh, nutritious food and are always happy to provide for individual dietary requirements and preferences. People are encouraged to influence and develop menu choices and a nutritional focus group meets quarterly to redesign menus.

Resources and Amenities

We can accommodate up to 32 adults in 20 single and 6 twin rooms at Millport, all of which are en-suite. We have two large separate lounge areas, one with a small satellite kitchen, a snoozelen room and a dining room. We have a large, furnished patio area and separate decked area which allows residents to make the most of the sunshine. We also operate a short break project which provides holiday breaks for people in a variety of holiday settings. Nursing and care staff support people to enjoy holidays both throughout the UK and abroad. A variety of facilities and services are available on the island including bike hire, boat trips and hairdressing and alternative therapies. A short bus and ferry journey which operates every 15 – 30 minutes takes you to the mainland where a full range of leisure facilities can be accessed. Our garden areas can be enjoyed by all and used for the purposes of growing vegetables, relaxing and barbecues.
