Overview
Day Services provides Day Care for older people aged 65 and over. It offers a homely therapeutic environment.
The aim of Day Service for Older People is to provide a safe, flexible, therapeutic and homely environment for service users, their families and significant others, according to their assessed needs. To provide the highest possible quality social care and act in the best interest of people, by maximising their independence and helping them participate fully in their family and community. Our aspiration is to secure a lasting change in culture and a better quality of life for all North Ayrshire people.
It is the aim of the service to work in partnership with service users, their families and significant others to promote the physical, intellectual, emotional and social wellbeing of the service users, taking into consideration the needs of the individual and those of the group.
Competent, trained staff will support service users and meet their assessed needs, according to Social Services policies and procedures
North Ayrshire Council is committed to the promotion and protection of the health and safety of service users and staff. There are policies and procedures within Day Service, which promote and comply with current health and safety legislation.
Service Description
Gowanlea Day Service has been purposely adapted to suit the needs of older people. It is situated entirely on the ground floor and has access for less able people. It is light and airy, has two main sitting areas, two spacious dining rooms, activity area, kitchen and quiet room for relaxation. It is suitable for wheelchair users. We offer a wide range of person centred therapeutic activities, which you can participate in. Activities are available to suit individual assessed needs.
Costs
£11.25 per day There is one overall charge for day Services. This charge is dependent on individual circumstances and a financial assessment being carried out.

Mon – Fri 9:00am – 4:30pm
Resources and Amenities
Gowanlea Day Service provides 24 places per day accomodating both frail elderly and those with a cognitive impairment. The highly motivated trained staff team consist of: 1 Senior Day Care Officer 6 Day Care Officers 2 Driver/Escort We offer a nutritious menu with choices available for each meal. Individual dietary needs can be catered for. Light snacks and refreshments are also available throughout the day.

Gowanlea is situated within the local park area. Easy access to local shops and community facilities. Gowanlea Day Service has been purposely adapted to suit the needs of older people. There is access to an enclosed garden area at the rear of the building.
