Overview
FFU Scotland is a new social enterprise, 3rd sector organisation for fibromyalgia care support and professionals in Scotland. FFU Scotland is based in Ayrshire however we cover all of Scotland online and developing throughout community bases.
Service Description
FFU Scotland commenced in May 2014 as an online chat, support, information group and also as a public community page on Social Media- Facebook. We have subsequently developed over the years and are now a registered Social Enterprise since 2017.
FFU Scotland CIC offer support, information, signposting, training and advocacy to fibromyalgia sufferers, care support and professionals online and in communities.
FFU Scotland currently have two Ayrshire based support meetings which offer friendship, advice, information and also supports for self-management of the syndrome.
Speakers and activities on various self management strategies attend throughout the year. Other franchise meetings and affiliations across the country are in progress.
FFU Scotland community based service delivery ( coming soon) will entail peer support and advocacy in Ayrshire to support self management, accessing services and supports, form filling and will work with members to develop their own self management outcomes.
The service will also offer drop in for information, sign posting and advice. Opportunities for volunteering , training around self management, various Fibromyalgia training for sufferers, care support and professionals, workshops, craft retail opportunities, functional fitness and much more.
FFU Scotland currently offer social meet ups throughout the country, have various awareness and fundraising events, online social activities, weekly online trained pharmacy support to assist early intervention advice and support, resource page support for ways to interact in your communities and craft retail ventures with awareness merchandise to promote fibromyalgia and FFU as well as build sustainability.
FFU Scotland aim to support, empower and inspire people with fibromyalgia in Scotland at whatever stage of their journey , promoting self management and do so in conjunction with various professionals in health and social care, 3rd sector and private sectors.
We also aim to be a voice for the collective in Scotland seeking change , equality and inclusion with various partner agencies including health and social care partnerships, primary care and other third sector supports.
Costs
FFU Scotland costs are under review and a tiered membership is in progress for all FFU Scotland members that wish to sign up and this will allow members exclusive deals, publications, and much more.
A donation (attendance and refreshment) of £2 a month can be made on attendance at the monthly support meetings which assists in the replenishing of refreshments and also to build up funds to help with subsidising of social events costs for members.
Duration
Our monthly community support in Irvine commenced in June 2015 and will take place on every third Thursday of the month and there afterwards unless stated/advised.
FFU Scotland from the 2nd May 2017 onwards have taken over the running of a support meeting at Crosshouse Hospital every 1st Tuesday of the month. This will be ongoing unless stated/advised.

Full FFU Scotland Support and Advocacy service will launch later in year. This will involve training for fibromyalgia sufferers , care support and professionals , self management support, information drop in service, peer advocacy and support programme, Functional fitness programme and more.
Accessibility
Community Support meetings
Irvine Fullarton Connextions is at the roundabout next to Cunninghame house. The building is accessible for all and has ample parking and disability spaces.
It can be accessed via bus to river-gate and walk over, train (closest public transport) and car.
Crosshouse Alexander Fleming Education Centre – Crosshouse hospital is easily accessible for all and has good bus links to the door. Disabled parking is available also. Signs will be internal to signpost the education centre all on ground floor.
