Overview
Cornerstone is a leading provider of care for children, young people and adults with disabilities and additional support needs. With a team of experienced and motivated staff, we provide a wide range of services to over 2000 people and their families each year, and we are committed to improving the lives of the people we support.
With more than 30 years’ experience, our services are designed to be flexible to meet the individual needs of the people we support, maximising their independence and supporting them to build relationship and maintain social networks.
We identify outcomes based on four key areas – increased social inclusion, improved health, improved independence and responsibility and improved wellbeing. Our highly trained, professional staff believe in the potential of every person we support and have the expertise and experience to enable the people we support to enjoy a valued life.
We support people of all ages with a variety of needs including learning disabilities, physical disabilities, Autism, Fragile X and Dementia. This support is provided through home care, day opportunities, children’s services, supported living, community support, shared lives, befriending, community justice and short-break fostering. We also run six social firms offering employment and training for the people we support.
Service Description
Our Ayrshire Supported Living service provides support to people in their own homes. These can be small group living environments or single tenancies. The level of support is based on individual need and can range from a few hours a day or a week, to 24 hour care and support.
Many of the people we support have moved to our services from long-stay hospitals and we have considerable experience in providing support during this transition.
People we support can decorate their home in any way they wish, have friends over to visit and have full control of how they live. Our staff will agree a package of care with them and their family or circle of support.
Our person-centred approach means we have tailored our service to meet the different needs of each person, enabling people to make their own decisions and take part in everyday activities.
The support we offer can include personal care, social and recreational activities, Support to access education, finance and budgeting, housework, shopping, preparing meals, health needs.
