Overview
Day Services provides Day Care for older people aged 65 and over. It offers a homely therapeutic environment.
The aim of Day Service for Older People is to provide a safe, flexible, therapeutic and homely environment for service users, their families and significant others, according to their assessed needs. To provide the highest possible quality social care and act in the best interest of people, by maximising their independence and helping them participate fully in their family and community. Our aspiration is to secure a lasting change in culture and a better quality of life for all North Ayrshire people
It is the aim of the service to work in partnership with service users, their families and significant others to promote the physical, intellectual, emotional and social wellbeing of the service users, taking into consideration the needs of the individual and those of the group.
Competent, trained staff will support service users and meet their assessed needs, according to Social Services policies and procedures

Service Description
Burns Day Service is a large modern purpose built building which has been adapted to suit the needs of older people. The building is on ground floor level and has access for less able people and wheelchair users. Handrails are provided in the toilets for people with poor mobility. All areas are suitable for service users who require to use a wheelchair. There are two separate lounge areas – The Bracken Lounge caters for frail elderly and the Heather Lounge which caters for service users who have a cognitive impairment. Both lounges have a kitchen, dining area, craft area and laundry facilities. There is a bright conservatory which leads to a large enclosed sensory garden for the use of all service users. It offers a homely therapeutic environment. Where we offer a wide range of person centred therapeutic activities, which you can participate in. Activities are provided to suit individual assessed needs.
Costs
£11.25 per day There is one overall charge for day Services. This charge is dependent on individual circumstances and a financial assessment being carried out.

9.00 am – 4.30pm Monday – Friday
Resources and Amenities
Burns Day Services caters for up to 14 service users who have a cognitive impairment and 16 frail elderly. Our highly motivated trained staff team consists of: 1 Senior Day Care Officer 8 Day Care Officers 2 Driver/escort 1 Escort We offer a nutritious menu with choices available for each meal. Individual dietary requirements are catered for. Light snacks and refreshments are also available throughout the day.
