We enable people to maintain lifestyles that are as similar as possible to those enjoyed at home. We encourage regular interaction with the local community, including contact with friends, family and local groups. We encourage friends and family to be involved through regular visits and participation at special activities, events and open days.

The activities offered are very much based on the individual person’s choice and interests. We offer a variety of social and therapeutic activities that people can choose to become involved in, including visiting garden centres, attending football matches and concerts. We often have outside entertainers perform at the home.

Other facilities include a visiting hairdresser, a pampering service and podiatry. Visits can also be arranged from opticians, physiotherapists and dentists. Religious services are available within the home and trips to the local church can be arranged.

Meals are an important part of the day at Avon Park. Our expert catering team prepare a varied menu of fresh home cooked food every day and we cater for individual likes and dislikes from a cultural, religious or choice perspective.

Our friendly and experienced team of nurses, carers and domestic staff provide tailored care 24 hours a day and are supported by an experienced manager.

Resources and Amenities

The ground floor at Avon Park has 26 bedrooms for older people and people with acquired brain injuries.

There are two lounge areas, a smaller sitting area and a large dining room where people can enjoy socialising and relaxing.

The upper floor has 27 bedrooms for people with acquired brain injuries or early onset dementia. Each of the areas has its own small kitchen/pantry, dining room and lounge. We have rooms with ensuite wet rooms or toilet facilities. People can also enjoy the garden in the warmer months which has various plants and wildlife.

Avon Park is situated on the outskirts of Strathaven with views of the surrounding countryside and valley. Strathaven has a range of local amenities and shops and people enjoy attending various events in the town such as vintage car exhibitions, hot air balloon festivals, agricultural shows and county fairs.
