Overview
We aim to provide a variety of Art and Craft projects, using a range of materials. We use mostly recycled materials ie driftwood, pallets, furniture, frames, wall tiles and ceramics. We source materials locally and use charity and donations for other craft material supplies.
Sales of our work are held 3 to 4 times a year at which we sell a large quantity of work produced by the service users. These sales provide an income that is used to purchase art and craft materials.
We make regular visits to local art and craft exhibitions which give inspiration and new ideas for working on a variety of projects.
Service Description
Arty Cards and Crafts is a day service provider for adults with learning disabilities. We aim to give our service users the opportunity to gain new skills and explore their own creativity. The service users are involved in the whole process from combing the local beaches and visiting charity shops for recycled materials to selling the finished projects at open days.
Arty Cards and Crafts is part of Community Based Services, a Kilwinning based Day Service which provides training for employment for adults with learning disabilities. Service users start their service in Arty Cards and Crafts where they are assessed and then build on their existing skills. From here they can gain work experience within the centre and the local community with an aim to move on to volunteer or paid employment opportunities.
