Dementia Friendly Golf Sessions

Date of Event:    August 30, 2018

Take your time round Fullarton Golf Course in Troon (KA10 6NJ) with new dementia-friendly sessions that enable people to play golf but at a slower pace.
Instead of taking 7 minutes to golf from hole to hole, tee times have been extended to 14 minute intervals to allow for a more relaxed and enjoyable round of golf.
Slow Golf Days are held on the third Thursday of each month. Tee times available from 12noon. Club hire is also available for £10, with the sessions costing November-March £12.50 and April-October £17.25.

Ayrshire Working Age Parkinson’s Group

Date of Event:    September 4, 2018

This local Parkinson’s UK group is open to anyone of working age.

Go along and join in at this free event for people with Parkinson’s of working age and their families. This social support group meets once a month and is a great chance to meet other young people affected by Parkinson’s and offer advice, friendship.

The group meet on the 1st Tuesday of the month at the Volunteer Rooms (Cunningham Room) in Irvine from 7pm until 9pm.

LGBTI+ Social Group

Date of Event:    September 4, 2018

Are you LGBTI+, between the age of 12 and 25 years old? Then why not go along to these groups where you relax and be yourself. You can get to know new people whilst taking part in fun activities.

The groups meet on Tuesdays locally in Kilwinning from 6.45pm-8.45pm. There are two groups 12-18 years old and 18-25 years old.

The group is completely confidential and you can take a friend or family member if that makes you feel more comfortable.

Ayrshire Epilepsy Young Person’s Group

Date of Event:    September 6, 2018

Ayrshire Epilepsy Young Person’s Group will meet at Fullarton Connexions Church, Irvine (Note the change of venue as the Carers Centre is not available) in the School Room on Thursday 6 September 2018 from 5.30—7.30pm.

The group will be joined by with Gareth Davison, Epilepsy Specialist Nurse and Jim Thompson, Epilepsy Connections Fieldworker Ayrshire & Arran.


Musical Memory Lane

Raise Your Voice Ardeer is part of Centre Stage on the Road and is a community group open to everyone in the community that provides a place for people to come together in an uplifting environment to share skills, have fun, build confidence and encourage each other.

Every week on a Monday from 1.30pm to 3pm at Ardeer Community Centre they have Musical Memory Lane (MML). It is a very special fun afternoon of music, tea and biscuits. During the afternoon they have music, singing and some time for everyone to have a chat with friends, old and hopefully some new ones made along the way.

They do not charge for Musical Memory Lane, however donations are always welcome.

Ayrshire Epilepsy Support Group

Date of Event:    September 20, 2018

Ayrshire Epilepsy Support Group meet at Fullarton Connexions Church, Irvine in the studio. They will be meeting on Thursday 20 September 2018 from 5.15pm—7.15pm, All welcome.

The group will be accompanied by Gareth Davison, Epilepsy Specialist Nurse and Jim Thompson, Epilepsy Connections Fieldworker, Ayrshire & Arran.

The group discussion topics for 2018 included:

  • Hearing about the benefits system and the impact it has on people affected by epilepsy.
  • Raising awareness about epilepsy with employers and the wider public.
  • Looking at how to connect with people who are hard to reach due to their location, lack of transport and sometimes lack of information.
  • Information on telecare/telehealth aids and equipment.
  • Occupational Health and how it benefits people affected by epilepsy.
  • First Aid.

Drama Classes For Children And Adults

Drama sessions are available on Tuesdays at Vineburgh Centre in Irvine.
Primary 1-4 – 3.30- 4.30pm
Primary 5-7 – 4.30 – 6.00pm

SISG Skills For Hearing Class

Date of Event:    September 27, 2018

SISG (Sensory Impaired Support Group) offer a skills for hearing class on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month at Garnock Valley Area Centre, Craigton Road from 10-12pm for older people with hearing loss.

The small group develop practical coping strategies as well as learning finger spelling and lip-reading.

The next class date is 27 September 2018.

The dates for the rest of the year are:

  • 11 October
  • 25 October
  • 8 November
  • 22 November
