Funding Surgeries

Date of Event:    October 31, 2018

The Ayrshire Community Trust are holding funding surgeries’ to give people the chance to speak to funders.

Surgeries will take place on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 31 October – Firstport
  • Thursday 29 November – Heritage Lottery Fund

All funding surgeries will take place at 27 Veron Street, Saltcoats, KA21 5HE.

Date of Event:    November 3, 2018

SISG Skills For Hearing Class

Date of Event:    November 8, 2018

SISG (Sensory Impaired Support Group) offer a skills for hearing class on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month at Garnock Valley Area Centre, Craigton Road from 10-12pm for older people with hearing loss.

The small group develop practical coping strategies as well as learning finger spelling and lip-reading.

The next class date is 8 November 2018.

The final date of the rest of the year is 22 November.

Ayrshire Epilepsy Young Person’s Group

Date of Event:    November 8, 2018

Ayrshire Epilepsy Young Person’s Group will meet at Fullarton Connexions Church, Irvine (Note the change of venue as the Carers Centre is not available) in the School Room on Thursday 8 Novemeber 2018 from 5.30—7.30pm.

The group will be joined by with Gareth Davison, Epilepsy Specialist Nurse and Jim Thompson, Epilepsy Connections Fieldworker Ayrshire & Arran.


Pain Association Support Group Meetings

Date of Event:    November 15, 2018

The Pain Association is a professionally led training group for people with all forms of chronic pain. Sessions focus on building skills that help you to regain control and cope more effectively. You can to attend at any point during the programme. You do not need to be referred by your Doctor.

The group meets monthly at Nethermains Community Centre in Kilwinning (Thursdays 10.30am-12.30pm) and at Biggart Hospital in Prestwick(Thursdays 2pm-4pm)

Community Payback Office Christmas Fair

Date of Event:    November 17, 2018

Justice Services, Community Payback Office Christmas Fair is taking place on Saturday 17 November 2018 from 10am until 3pm within Ardeer Community Centre, Stevenston.

There will be a variety of stalls, Santa’s Grotto, outdoor planters and holly wreaths for sale.

Date of Event:    November 29, 2018

Ayrshire Epilepsy Support Group meet at Fullarton Connexions Church, Irvine in the studio. They will be meeting on Thursday 29 November 2018 from 5.15pm—7.15pm, All welcome.

The group will be accompanied by Gareth Davison, Epilepsy Specialist Nurse and Jim Thompson, Epilepsy Connections Fieldworker, Ayrshire & Arran.

The group discussion topics for 2018 included:

  • Hearing about the benefits system and the impact it has on people affected by epilepsy.
  • Raising awareness about epilepsy with employers and the wider public.
  • Looking at how to connect with people who are hard to reach due to their location, lack of transport and sometimes lack of information.
  • Information on telecare/telehealth aids and equipment.
  • Occupational Health and how it benefits people affected by epilepsy.
  • First Aid.
