The Hope Project’s Fitness Class

A 50+ fitness class to suit all abilities is taking place each Wednesday from10.30am until12 noon at The Hope Centre, 10 Alexander Place in Stevenston. Each session costs £2.

Alzheimers Scotland Is Active In North Ayrshire

Alzheimers Scotland has a number of community groups which are a local resource for people with dementia, carers and family:

  • Musical Minds Irvine (Fullarton Church) 1.30pm-3pm. Last Monday of the month.
  • Football Memories Ardrossan (Civic Centre). 11am-2pm Second  Monday of every month.
  • Musical Memories Kilbirnie (Montgomery Court Community Hub). 2-3.30pm. Second Thursday of the month.
  • Football Memories Irvine (Vennel Centre, East Road) 11am-12.30pm. Third Monday  of the month.
  • Musical Memories Beith , Beith Parish Church 1.30-3pm. Third Tuesday of the month.
  • Talk of the Town, Irvine (Vennel Centre East Road) 1.30-3pm Third Monday of the month.
  • Talk of the Town Kilbirnie. (Montgomery Court Community Hub) 2-3.30pm. Fourth Thursday of the month.

All of their community groups are for those who can attend independently or with a family member, carer or with a friend. Open for all. Suggested donation £2.00

Castlepark Walking Group

Get that spring put back into your step! A new walking group has started up in Castlepark. They step out each Tuesday and Thursday around the local area. They meet at Castlepark Community Centre in Irvine at 6pm. They are happy to welcome walkers of all abilities.

So if you fancy an opportunity to get of of the house for a bit, keep fit and meet old and new friends why not go along?

Darts Social Group

Date of Event:    November 9, 2017

Did you know that a group of people, mostly ladies, meet each Tuesday at the Harbour Lights in Irvine to have a laugh, socialise and play darts! Some of them just go for the chat and to meet old and new friends. You don’t need to be able to play, you just need to be keen to get out of the house and have a bash.

They meet each Tuesday from 7.30pm until 9.30pm or as long as you want to stay. It is free and there is lots of friendly advice and support.

Ardrossan Winter Craft Fair

Date of Event:    November 9, 2017

Ardrossan Library are having a Winter Craft Fair on Thursday 9 November 2017 from 2pm till 6pm.

Entry is free and there will be a range of quality handmade goods produced by local crafters including jewellery, knitted goods, bespoke plaques, glitter glasses, bunting, Christmas items, quilted goods, hampers, bath bombs and more. Lots of great ideas for Christmas presents.

Dementia Friends Training Session

Date of Event:    November 16, 2017

Dementia Friends is an Alzheimer Scotland initiative and anybody can become a Scottish Dementia Friend. It’s just about understanding a bit more about dementia and the small things you can do to help people with the condition. This could be helping someone find the right bus or being patient in a till queue if someone with dementia is taking longer to pay. Every action counts.

A Dementia Friends information session is a free interactive and informative training course that will provide you with an understanding of how to interact with people who have dementia. At the end of the session you will become a registered Dementia Friend.

There is a sessions taking place at Montgomery Court Hub on 16 November 2017 from 2-4pm.

Epilepsy Connections Young Person’s Group

Date of Event:    November 16, 2017

Epilepsy Connections young person groups give younger people with epilepsy a chance to meet and share their experiences with peers. The aim is for the group to set their agenda and give everyone the opportunity to have their say, with support from Jim Thomson (Ayrshire & Arran Epilepsy Connections Field Worker) and Gareth Davison (Epilepsy Specialist Nurse).

The group will meet on Thursday 16 November from 5:30-7:30pm at the North Ayrshire Carers Centre, 174 High Street, Irvine, KA12 8AN.

Linked Hands

Date of Event:    November 17, 2017

Linked Hands is a community group for everyone including anyone living with dementia and their family and friends to go along too. The group meet at Ardrossan Park Church on the 1st Friday and the 3rd Wednesday of each month.

Head along to Park Church on the 17 November for community, chat, coffee and cake at 1:30pm till 3pm.

The group is to be enjoyed by all, those who are unable to attend independently should come with a companion who can take responsibility for them and share the experience of the group.

Please note there is no transport available  to this group.

A suggested donation of £2 would be very much appreciated.
